BPMourning300It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we report the death of Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez of the Big Bend Sector. On today’s date, November 19, 2017, Martinez and his partner were on patrol in the Van Horn Border Patrol Station area of operation when they responded to activity. Shortly after responding, Martinez’ partner called for assistance and reported both agents were injured. Responding units provided medical assistance, and both agents were transported to a nearby hospital.

As of this writing, the cause of this tragedy is not being reported as this situation is unfolding and an active investigation is underway. Various local and federal authorities are on scene to assist with the investigation and to search the area for any suspects or witnesses.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Agent Martinez and his family and our fellow agent who is currently in the hospital in serious condition.
