The National Border Patrol Council would like to congratulate Mr. Trump on his election as the 45th President of the United States of America. We look forward to working with the Trump transition team to finally give the American people the border security they have been demanding. With the support of President Trump, agents will be able to fully enforce our nation’s immigration laws and protect our borders.

National Border Patrol Council Endorses Colonel Doug Applegate over Rep. Darrell Issa.
Washington DC (October 15, 2016)
The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) in concurrence with Local 1613 are proud to endorse Colonel Doug Applegate for Congress. Over the years we've seen a deterioration in the relationship between Democrats and Republicans and a complete unwillingness to work together for the betterment of this great nation, and we the American Public are the losers. Darrell Issa has been at the forefront of the contention that is Washington D.C., and we believe it is time for a change.
This election, Iraqi War veteran Col. Doug Applegate offers voters an alternative. As a US Marine, Mr. Applegate led our nation's finest and bravest in combat in Ramadi, Baghdad, and Fallujah. Like never before in our history, Congress needs leaders with a willingness to put country ahead of self. Colonel Applegate is such a leader, and the NBPC strongly endorses his candidacy for Congress.
There are few issues as important as the security of our borders. The safety of our families and the strength of our economy depend on it. Unfortunately, under this Administration, the trends are alarmingly headed in the wrong direction. According to published reports, interior deportation is at a nine-year low, eight out
of 10 illegals caught at the border are allowed to stay, and barely 51% of those crossing illegally into in the U.S. are arrested.
"No organization understands the challenges of securing the border more than the NBPC. As agents, our members are in a unique position to offer real world solutions," stated NBPC President Brandon Judd. " We look forward to working with Col. Applegate to secure the border and keep our nation safe and secure."
"It is time to move past the deadlock and bitter partisanship that has made Washington ineffective," stated Judd. "Our nation is great, because, in our darkest times, leaders have emerged and led us back to the promise that is America. Now is that time, and we believe Col. Applegate is that right choice and strongly endorse his candidacy."
The NBPC has an internal email from the United States Citizen and Immigration Service (USCIS) showing that extra overtime is being provided to employees to process as many applications for citizenship as possible prior to November 8.
The NBPC also has text messages from upper level managers telling us that criminal prosecution cases are being put on hold in order for judges to adjudicate these applications. Historically, we have seen criminal background checks curtailed in situations like this, thus allowing some criminals to gain United States citizenship.
We are also experiencing a new surge of illegal immigration along the Southern Border. This is not unexpected, since when there is talk of easing enforcement or tightening enforcement illegal immigration increases. Immigration has dominated this year’s presidential election, with both candidates offering very different approaches. This uncertainty causes individuals to risk the dangerous journey so they can be in the US before any changes are made. The Rio Grande Valley remains ground zero for the latest surge, however sectors as far west as San Diego sector are reporting dramatic increases.
Yesterday morning, Breitbart reported that leaked FBI documents “reveal that 7,712 terrorist encounters occurred within the United States in one year and that many of those encounters occurred near the U.S.-Mexico border.” Fox News is also reporting that according to a DHS report, a person attempting to enter the US illegally will have a 51.6% chance of successfully evading apprehension. No one should be surprised by these numbers. For years now, we have been saying this to anyone who will listen.
Our agents have testified to Congress that DHS and CBP have inflated the apprehension rate and minimized the arrests of individuals from countries of "special interest." We have told this to reporters from coast to coast. We have discussed it in depth on our radio program, The Green Line. However, the Administration has been either too proud or too afraid to admit the border remains porous and unsecured.
