The National Border Patrol Council announces its highly successful podcast “The Green Line” will take to the airwaves on May 15th, 2016. The podcast, with more than 700,000 downloads, will be broadcasting on 1030 KVOI The Voice which is a conservative talk radio station in Tucson, Arizona. In keeping with The Green Line podcasts, the radio show will continue to feature high-level politicos and agency officials, while offering an unapologetically conservative voice on the issues surrounding the security of our borders, our families, and our nation. The Green Line is America’s only radio show and podcast produced and hosted by active duty law enforcement officers.
It is with a heavy heart, and deep sadness, that we report the loss of one of our Border Patrol agents. This agent was stationed in the Big Bend Sector and was killed in an automobile accident early this morning. Our thoughts and prayer are with his family.
This tragedy is a reminder that danger often accompanies this profession we have chosen. We hope his family can find comfort in knowing he kept our nation and our communities safe. Please remember him in your prayers and hug your family a little tighter tonight, as we never know when our end of shift could come.
In our March 30th endorsement statement of Donald J. Trump, we, the National Border Patrol Council called upon the American people to stand with border patrol agents in support of Mr. Trump and his pledge to end illegal immigration. We fully expected that the will of the American electorate, whatever they decided in this primary, would be upheld. It is now clear that voters are being disenfranchised in order to protect established interests.
With the cancelation of the election in Colorado, question voters need to be asking, is “Does the party work for the people or do people work for the party?” The Republican Party has found a brand new to demonstrate that voice of the people will only be heard if it can be controlled. Once again, the will of the public - who have pleaded for immigration enforcement - is being overridden by special interests with agendas. We see the same thing happening across the country, where delegates won by Mr. Trump - through a popular recorded vote - have made secret arrangements to support other candidates, thwarting the will of the millions of voters they collectively are supposed to represent. This is insidious.
I am calling today on the Republican Party to promise free, fair and open elections in America. All candidates should join in this demand. Elections should mean that the people - not party insiders - choose the nominee. We will never secure our immigration system unless the raw will of the American people is imposed through the ballot box. Clearly, politicians and special interests will continue to betray America's interests if they are left to their own devices.
As President of the National Border Patrol Council, the union that represents over 16,500 Border Patrol Agents, I take issue with the editorial published April 5th in reaction to the union’s endorsement of Donald Trump.
As someone who has been involved in border protection for over 18 years, I can tell you the border is not secure and the situation is getting worse. Apprehensions are only one factor that needs to be considered. The fact that the editorial board chose to cherry pick one statistic is not only inaccurate - it is bad journalism.
