GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Members,

As you are all aware we have entered another government shutdown. For those of you that have been around a while you are all too familiar with the process. For those who have come on board since 2019 this may be new to you. With that said, we are posting a link to the updated guidance for the current shutdown from OPM, to answer any questions you may have. This go around is a bit different from prior shutdowns in that we have all been designated by the agency as EXCEPTED, not just enforcement personnel. As always paychecks will come but may be delayed.

We are EXCEPTED not EXEMPT employees, meaning we will continue to work though the shutdown and will be paid for all time at its conclusion. We will all see a paycheck on the 10th of October. The first potential impact could be on October 24th, if the shutdown extends beyond that date. Again, all hours worked will be tracked and paid upon completion of the shutdown. The agency will be issuing notices which we encourage you to take to your banks and creditors for assistance with obligations during the shutdown to ease any associated economic strain. Please feel free to click here for updated guidance from OPM regarding the shutdown/furlough process.

Your Local 1929 Executive Board will continue to operate in service of the membership throughout this process, albeit in furlough status, for all representational matters deemed necessary by the agency in this time frame.

Please reach out to your respective board members with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you,

Your Local 1929 E board
