As expected, a few positive policy changes were already announced this week by CBP and USBP. Below are the summaries of a few of the policies and changes. The official announcements will be shared in the future when made available for the public.
Pursuit Policy: The 2023 Pursuit Policy has been rescinded, and the 2021 version is back in place. A policy workgroup will be put together to figure out what changes, if any, need to be made to the 2021 version.
Terminology Policy: All CBP personnel will now use “factually accurate, legally established” terms (e.g., illegal alien).
Catch and Release Policy: Catch and Release is terminated, and all efforts are to be made to hold individuals until they can be removed from the U.S.
Operational Priority Policy: All efforts should be made to concentrate daily activities toward preventing the illegal entry of individuals and illicit contraband.
Physical Border Security Policy: CBP will be making efforts to install physical barriers and additional technology to assist in border security.
CBP One Policy: CBP will no longer use the CBP One application to schedule individuals without legal status for appointments to seek admission or remain in the U.S.
