Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents Stop Human Smuggling Event involving 120 Illegal Aliens From 5 Different Countries

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint located northwest of Laredo, Texas stopped a massive HUMAN SMUGGLING event. Border Patrol agents arrested 120 illegal aliens smuggled inside a semi-trailer. The 120 illegal aliens were from 5 different countries.

The human smuggling event occurred on May 10, 2019.  Agents who were working checkpoint operations encountered a semi-truck with a white trailer.  While interviewing the driver, who claimed to have no identification, a canine alerted to the odors of concealed humans and/or narcotics within the trailer.  The tractor-trailer was referred to the secondary inspection area where the driver fled through the passenger door and ran into an adjacent field.

Agents proceeded to open the trailer and discovered a total of 120 illegal aliens from 5 different countries.

The subjects arrested in the trailer consisted of 11 juveniles from Honduras and Guatemala, along with 109 adults both male and females from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador and Mexico.

“At a time when Border Patrol Agents are overwhelmed during the worst border security crisis in recent history, Border Patrol Agents continue to give it their all even, when the odds are stacked against them’” said Hector Garza, a Border Patrol Agent and Vice President of National Border Patrol Council.  “This was a great job by our Border Patrol agents.”

“Our agents continue to do an amazing job, even with the limited resources the Border Patrol has been experiencing,” Garza continued. “Our hard working Border Patrol agents put their lives on the line every day and night to stop these human smugglers.
