NBPC Vice President: ‘Obama Holdovers’ Keeping ‘Catch & Release’ Alive and Well

Hector Garza, Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) said officials from the Obama administration are continuing to implement old policies while the wall and DACA remain in limbo.

“Catch and release is alive and well,” Hector Garza told Jason Chaffetz on “The Ingraham Angle.”

Under “catch and release,” as critics call it, illegal immigrants could claim to require asylum in the United States, which means they would receive “notice to appear” tickets to return to court in the future.

Garza said few illegal immigrants actually show up months later at their hearing and “disappear into American communities.”

“Obama holdovers within the agency are implementing those same policies that were in effect under the Obama administration,” he said.

Garza said that the “caravan” of foreign nationals from Honduras making its way through Mexico will eventually reach the U.S. border.

He predicted those folks will similarly claim asylum and be given an appearance ticket.
