Media outlets across the nation are starting to report the truth behind President Obama’s record on immigration and border security. Unfortunately for the Administration, their record does not support their rhetoric. In fact, it is more in line with the “Borderless World” Secretary Kerry promoted in his recent commencement address at Northeastern University. Recent reporting has proven that during this Presidency, few were held accountable for violating our immigration laws, criminals were released into the U.S. at alarming numbers, and American lives were put at risk as dangerous drugs flooded our cities.
This week on the Green Line, Emmy Award-winning Fox News reporter William La Jeunesse joins our hosts. He will discuss his investigative reporting into this Administration’s true record on deportation and securing the border. Mr La Jeunesse has been one of the leaders in questioning the President’s immigration record. He has toured the Southwest border extensively and joins us to discuss his experience, and how difficult it is to get information from what President Obama guaranteed would be the “most transparent administration in history.”
Recently, The Boston Globe joined the growing list of media outlets critical of the President’s policies. They report that DHS released thousands of people with criminal records. The Globe reports that in New England alone, 323 criminals were released from 2008 to 2012 and as “many as 30 percent committed new offenses, including rape, attempted murder, and child molestation — a rate that is markedly higher than Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have suggested to Congress in the past.”
Host Shawn Moran said, “the administration is again caught misleading the public on the dangerous people they have released into the U.S. The Boston Globe’s report demonstrates how President Obama’s policies put every family at risk. It is unthinkable that thousands of people could have been spared the trauma of experiencing to a violent crime if we had only enforced the law.”
In April, the Los Angeles Times broke down the myth that President Obama was tough on deporting illegal immigrants. The newspaper reported “immigrants living illegally in most of the continental U.S. are less likely to be deported today than before Obama came to office.” They report 8 out of 10 caught at the border are allowed to stay. The report also says deportations of those living in the U.S. are 40 percent lower, and at a nine year low.
Co-host Chris Cabrera said, this is consistent with our experiences in the field, and with what we have been saying to Congress, the Administration and the public. It will be interesting to see how Commissioner Kerlikowske and the Administration react to the truth finally being told. When the Administration fails to hold people accountable for breaking the law, they are in fact condoning this behavior and putting the safety of every person at risk”
Art Del Cueto said “recent reporting demonstrates how this Administration refuses to believe we live in dangerous times. They are determined to create what Secretary Kerry called a “Borderless World,” regardless of public demands for a secure border.”
Hosts and active-duty Border Patrol agents Shawn Moran, Chris Cabrera and Art Del Cueto lead the discussion and ask the tough questions. The Green Line airs Sunday June 11, 2016, at 7am (PST) on KVOI The Voice 1030 AM. It can also be streamed live on KVOI.COM.
